|||||Hands Born Dirty - Joseph Arthur (Holding the Void)||]|
Joseph Arthur, Neil Finn and Aimee Mann are my holy trinity of singer/songwriters :). Just saw Joe for the first time on monday and I was completely blown away... he is *phenomenal*! If he's playing near you check him out - you won't regret it! I think he's breaking from his own tour a few times to open for Wilco and then later R.E.M. this fall...
Welcome to the group it is nice to meet you :)
That's funny that you mention those 3 in the holy trinity. LOL (Is it bad that I've never even heard of Joseph Arthur, btw?)
I used to have a list of my ideal "supergroup" which included:
There was someone else too but I forget now. Maybe Rufus Wainwright, hmmm...
no it's not bad :). he isn't very well known at all which is a shame - i'm always shocked when someone *does* know him! seriously though check him out - he's unbelievable - he's been mentioned with the likes of jeff buckley, nick drake, elliot smith, joe henry (and he does a killer neil young impersonation) altho i think he's pretty one of a kind... you can read about him on amazon and hear clips and stuff - they can describe him better than me :). i have to confess, i've never heard of janet weiss, but i'll check her out if she's worthy of "supergroup" status - she's definitely in good company *g*
He definitely sounds worth checking out so I'll have to take a listen, considering I really like Elliot, Drake, etc.
You probably haven't heard of Janet b/c she's not a solo artist. She's best known as the drummer for Sleater-Kinney and does backing vocals/drumming for Quasi too.
